Biography
From touring the world as a session singer and guitarist, via a twenty-five year membership of near-legendary Yorkshire folk-rockers The Hall Brothers, to being one half of the award-winning duo Plumhall (with the amazing Michelle Plum), Nick Hall is firmly establishing himself as one of our finest singer-songwriters. This reputation has been bolstered by BBC Radio Two Folk Award nominee Dan Walsh's recent, excellent version of the Plumhall song - 'Never Forget My Name'.
Nick is well-known for his excellent guitar-playing and his emotive, warm and powerful singing voice.
With a commanding stage presence (helped by his experience as an actor on stage and TV), Nick has always had one foot in rock and the other in folk. He brings these (and other) influences to bear on a solo show which is as powerful as it is eclectic.
Well-loved by his peers and many of his own musical heroes (as made clear by Nick joining the legendary Ian McNabb onstage several times over the last couple of years), Nick is fast-becoming the 'go-to-guy' for anyone in need of a performer who can engage an audience instantly.
Recently, Nick has been described in RnR Magazine as a 'Northern folk luminary' and it was noted in a review of Beverley Festival in the same publication that Nick 'filled an almost empty marquee' with his charisma, musicianship and 'great songs'.
This year, Nick has appeared (with Michelle) as a special guest onstage with Al Stewart at the London Palladium, and written original songs for (and appeared in) a forthcoming feature film - The Runaways.
Nick (along with his partner Michelle Plum in Plumhall) has just been presented with a Tokai CE 140 E electro-acoustic guitar in an endorsement deal with Tokai Guitars.
